The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) is preparing to launch its second annual Stand Up For Science Video Competition to increase public awareness of the value of federally funded support for biological and biomedical science. Despite significant scientific breakthroughs, such as the creation of flu vaccines and new cancer therapies, enhanced agriculture and new biofuels, many Americans remain unaware of the critical role the federal government plays in supporting these discoveries.
FASEB encourages contestants to submit an informative, one to four minute video highlighting the role federal agencies play in supporting biomedical and biological research. Videos can be submitted between October 1 and November 30, 2013, in various formats, such as an interview, animation, or music/dance video. The grand prize winner will be announced in February 2014 and will receive $5,000. For more information about the contest or to enter, visit the Stand Up For Science website.
