A new video produced by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) provides an overview of the organization’s Capitol Hill Day. Held annually in the spring, Capitol Hill Day brings members of the FASEB Board of Directors and Science Policy Committee to Washington to meet with Senators, Representatives, and congressional staff to discuss the importance of sustained federal funding for biomedical research. In this video, FASEB leaders and staff reflect on these experiences and how they help build support from elected officials for the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and other federal science agencies. Additional advocacy tools for scientists are available on FASEB’s website.
A second video explains how FASEB has served its member societies for more than 100 years and the benefits of membership in the Federation. Additional questions addressed in the video include member eligibility, services available to members, and the ways scientific societies can get involved in advocacy and public affairs activities.
