FASEB Submits Comments to Senate Agriculture Committee

By | July 6, 2017

Following a June 15 hearing on the importance of agricultural research, FASEB submitted comments to the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry regarding the forthcoming 2018 Farm Bill. The comments were adapted from the United States Department of Agriculture chapter of the fiscal year (FY) 2018 FASEB Federal Funding Report by removing the specific FY 2018 funding request and stating that FASEB “respectfully urges the committee to reauthorize the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative  at a funding level of at least $700 million in the forthcoming Farm Bill.”

The Farm Bill authorizes numerous agriculture, nutrition, and related programs. With the current four-year bill set to expire in 2018, the committee will continue to seek stakeholder feedback in the coming months about agricultural science and other germane policy areas.
