On November 16, FASEB hosted a webinar on the effect of the 2016 elections on biological and biomedical research. The session also discussed the funding outlook for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation, and other research agencies during the “lame duck” session of Congress that is currently underway. The archived presentation is freely available on the FASEB website.
In addition to updating participants on the transition between administrations and progress in finalizing the federal budget, the webinar offered an overview of tools individuals can use to contact their members of Congress via email and social media, tips to ensure that messages are effective, and data to explain the importance of NIH funding in states and districts. The presentation is targeted to researchers, post docs, graduate students, and others in the science advocacy community.
